This year will be the 9th Annual Northern Roots New Zealand Hockey School and Cultural Exchange, and we would like to invite you to join us. In April we will embark on an adventure of a lifetime to Queenstown, New Zealand where players will have an incredibly unique opportunity to play hockey on the other side of the world and be immersed in Kiwi culture and associated activities. Players will be placed with local host hockey families and learn what it's like to live like a Kiwi! The Canadian and American players who joined us last year truly had a once in a lifetime experience. Players are encouraged to soak up the adventurous experience but build in time for homework studies. The parents of the players will determine the number of hours per day that their child will dedicate to school homework and communicate this to Boe for host families to honor.
TESTIMONIALS
"Coach Boe's Northern Roots cultural/hockey exchange was an incredible experience for my son. This program was so much more than playing hockey and working on skills. Having the opportunity to interact with different boys and families from another culture was a once in a lifetime experience. Boe was extremely knowledgeable and organized. His daily updates made me feel like I was right there with them. The boys couldn't have had a better guardian. His passion for the sport of hockey and the boys translated into every detail of the trip. Thank you Coach for memories that will last a lifetime."

"I cannot thank Boe Leslie enough for inviting my son to participate in the 2016 New Zealand Hockey School This was the trip of a lifetime. Not only did Boe travel to New Zealand to provide expert hockey instruction to the youth hockey players in Queenstown, but he also created a unique and exciting cultural exchange program for the ten boys from the United States he took on the trip. With Boe’s excellent coaching, the New Zealand Hockey School provided my son with the opportunity to learn new skills and refine his hockey game. My son was also immersed in the culture of New Zealand and Boe spent off ice time showing the boys the sights of the country. Boe is great with kids, extremely knowledgeable, an excellent hockey coach and he makes hockey fun! My son is extremely fortunate to be coached by Boe Leslie and the trip to New Zealand is one he will never forget! Boe - you are truly the best!"

“Our 13-year-old son was lucky enough to participate in the Northern Roots International Hockey School in New Zealand in the spring of 2018. While I was initially reluctant to let our son travel half way around the world without us for the first time, our worries were quickly put to rest when we received his first phone call upon arrival and could hear the excitement, joy and anticipation in his voice. Also easing our anxieties was knowing that Boe would be with our son on this once in a lifetime adventure - I honestly can’t think of anyone more compassionate, kind and responsible to entrust my child to. In addition to his expertise in hockey, Boe was able to offer our son a cultural experience he will not soon forget. As a child who is somewhat introverted, our son returned with a greater sense of self-confidence, maturity and social poise, fueled by the necessity to confront challenges outside a familiar support network. He was able to integrate seamlessly into another family, as well as develop life-long friendships – in large part – due to Boe’s attention to detail and concerted effort to place the boys with host families that would best compliment their personalities. Upon return, our son felt a tremendous sense of accomplishment and still talks about the many friends, experiences and knowledge he gained from this experience with coach Boe.”
